T.I.P. (Time is Precious)

I have been waiting for class to start since God knows when.

Today is a public holiday- Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Back home, the many public holidays we had were removed but here, there are many many holidays (well thats what I think). Anyway, today, we went round with the peer advisor who showed us our way round so that we could see the classes. This ensures that we will not get lost tomorrow or the rest of the week when we are looking for our classes.

As I continue to think about it, I wonder, would we take the time away from our lives to show a bunch of new students the way around to their classes? (that is in the school setting) Alvaro, my leader, who I think is really patient with us, emailed us beforehand and said we should meet up so that he can show us where our classes are going to be. Ama Kweli! that is deep!

After that, he invited the group for coffee in one of the coffee houses. I was too frozen to go and the thought of going to my room was more appealing, but then the thought just mesmerized me. After taking a bunch of new students round, would you take some time off your life to have a cup of coffee...well in my case, a cup of tea with them?

I read somewhere that time is the one thing in life that when you use, you can not recover. However, when you share your time with someone else, and invest in their lives, you have not wasted your time.

As we live our lives, can we get out of our busy schedules and take the time to know someone who is near us? I hope I learn to do that while am in this institution. Ama kweli!

Mwalimu.
