Procrastinator

I have learnt something. Well, I have always known it, but today I learnt it.
I have learnt that Procrastination is the thief of time. Yup! I am guilty of procrastinating a lot!
And I would have procrastinated writing this post but I turned against the procrastination in my head and in me and got into writing.

I learnt that we, (as human beings) spend a lot of time saying that we will do something later and this thing that we are not born with becomes a habit...a bad habit. If we decide to carry out what we need to do as soon as we realize that we need to do something, we can do really well in terms of saving time and money, in the long run.

That email that you should have sent a while ago. (I am speaking about myself...really), that person that you could have met with and created great networks with. That assignment that you needed to do as soon as possible but had to wait until the night before. That person that you need to make peace with. Even that relative you need to visit. Just do it as soon as you can.

When I was in high school, many of us would not read until a few days to the exam or the night before the exam. When asked why? we would say that adrenaline would help us remember. With a straight face and great conviction. O_o  Looking back at it now, I realize that for me it was just an excuse to have a great time and not read until it was the night before the exam. This is simple terms was procrastinating.

I have realized that procrastination just leads to doing nothing at all. It leads to a pile up and many excuses. And so from today, I purpose to do my best not to procrastinate. If we all do what we need to do at the right time, how far would we be as individuals. When we are all in time with what we need to do, I am sure that the education, the health and everything that pertains to human development and growth would be doing really well.

Well, my lesson is learnt. What is your lesson?

Ama Kweli.
